A potato a day? Okay ...

The humble potato is probably one of the world’s most popular vegetables.

Each person in the UK eats on average 130kg of potatoes every year and they have a great nutrition profile. They’re a good source of fibre, vitamin C, B6, Potassium and many more vitamins and minerals.

Spuds, taters, tatties, tubers, whatever you call them, potatoes are a truly versatile food. They can be bought fresh, dried, frozen, or as potato flakes, granules and starch, which are three of our most popular products.

Flakes are great for a number of foods such as Shepherd’s Pie, Fish Cakes, Rolls, Focaccia and much more, and they’re very nice mixed with parmesan for a delicious coating too!

Granules work well for mash potato, snacks, ready meals and to thicken dry soups and sauces, whereas starch can work as a fantastic thickener in custards, pie fillings, noodles, hot dog sausages and more. It’s also a great ingredient to prevent liquid separation. Potato Starch is also gluten free and it tolerates higher temperatures than corn starch.

Fun Fact: Potato starch was used in an early colour photography process and has also been used in the manufacture of ceiling tiles.

We don’t just source and supply potato but many other ingredients as well. More importantly we pride ourselves on our solutions-based offerings. We work closely with many buyers and product developers from the beginning to the end of a process, including on NPD, recipe design to ordering and delivery.
